A Nigerian activist by the name of Aisha Yesufu has taken to her Twitter account in order to explain the need that a guy must fulfill in order to be eligible to marry the mother of his ex- wife or current girlfriend.

This comes a day after it was reported in the Vanguard that the Kano State Hisbah had exonerated a woman for marrying the suitor who had proposed to her daughter.

According to what Aisha stated in her tweet, the practice is totally fine in Islam. She stated that it is still okay even if the suitor and the woman’ s daughter have tied the knot, as long as the marriage or connection has not been consummated.

She added that it is acceptable even if the woman’ s daughter has married the suitor. In her letter, she stated, ” Once the act of consummation has taken place, a marriage between them will no longer be permitted. “

To refresh your memory, a woman by the name of Malama Khadija Rano was under investigation by the Kano State Hisbah after it was discovered that she had dissolved her marriage in order to marry the suitor who was courting her daughter.

The following is what the Vanguard reported the previous day: ” Ahmed reported that Khadija had been divorced by her husband and had observed the three month waiting time (iddah) stipulated by Islam. She afterwards married a man whom her biological daughter had previously rejected. “

She stated that this is completely acceptable in Islamic law. Even if the daughter and the suitor had already tied the knot, as long as the marriage has not been consummated, the man is free to divorce the daughter and marry the mother. This is true even in the event that the daughter and the suitor had already married. Once the act of consummation has taken place, a future marriage between them will no longer be permitted.
